Major programs of the Council
  • Operation of Crèche: An Anganwadi is run in Bal Bhawan with the help of Women Empowerment and Child Development, Dehradun.
  • National Bravery Award: For the selection of eligible boys/girls every year for the National Bravery Award sponsored by the Indian Child Welfare Council, New Delhi, the State Council is making wide publicity of this scheme through all the District Magistrates, Senior Superintendents of Police, District Chief Education Officers of the state. After on-site testing of the application forms received from the districts, the applications are sent to the Indian Child Welfare Council, New Delhi for final selection. So far 15 children have received the National Bravery Award in the state of Uttarakhand. These victorious students are also honored at the state level by the Honorable Shri Governor by giving them incentive money and mementos. Children who have received National Bravery Award are given educational assistance up to class 12 by the Indian Child Welfare Council, New Delhi, for further studies. Any child who wants educational assistance for technical education is provided educational assistance to them through donors by the Indian Child Welfare Council, New Delhi. Assistance is provided.
  • Health Testing Camp: Health check-up camps are organized every year at Bal Bhawan by the Council in collaboration with Red Cross Society, Inner Wheel Club. In which children and their families are given free health check-up and free medicines.
  • State level Learn to Live Together Camp: Every year in the month of May, a five-day state level "Learn to Live Together Camp" is organized at Bal Bhawan. In this camp, selected children from deprived and deprived sections of all the districts of the state participate and learn the values ​​of living together, yoga, sports, crafts etc. During the camp, Madhuberi Talent Search Competition and Dr. S.S. Negi (Former Director IRDE) essay competition is organized. The participating children are taken on a tour of tourist places like Raj Bhavan, IMA, FRI, Buddha Temple, Vigyan Dham etc. The participating children meet the Honorable Shri Governor and the Honorable Chief Minister and receive blessings. Apart from this, lectures by learned persons are given in the camp to motivate the children. All these programs provide a lot of inspiration to the children and provide them with an enjoyable experience. They leave with experience.     Indian Child Welfare Council New Delhi. National level 'Learn to Live Together Camp' is organized by the Council every year in any one state of the country. Every year, 6 children from one or two districts are sent by the Council to participate in this camp with escorts. Children learn the life values ​​of living together with children from other states at the national level.
  • Organizing painting competition: In painting competition, students selected from block and district level participate in the state level competition. This competition is conducted among the students of general category - Green 5-8 years, White - 9-12 years, and special category Yellow Group - 5-10 years and Red Group - 11-18 years. At the state level, certificates and prizes are given to the students who get first, second and third consolation position in four categories and the paintings of these selected participants are sent to the National Painting Competition, Indian Council of Child Welfare, New Delhi. are sent to. at national level. Students standing first, second, third and consolation are given a cash prize, a silver medal and a certificate. Every year, a large number of children from the state, especially those belonging to the special category - Red category and Yellow category, win the National Painting Competition. These victorious children are also given educational assistance every year till class 12 by the Indian Child Welfare Council, New Delhi for their good performance in the class.
  • Organizing free skill development classes for poor and vulnerable children: In Bal Bhawan, Dehradun, from the year 2008 to 2016, the Council provided training in Science, Mathematics, English and Biology subjects for about four months to the backward and slum children studying in class 10 (board examination) of the poor and vulnerable groups in Bal Bhawan, Dehradun. Special education classes have been conducted. Children benefited greatly from this programme. Apart from this, English speaking course of three months is also given to small children.
  • Conducting computer literacy program: The Council conducts a free computer literacy program by qualified computer trainers in two batches of 04 months each. Poor children living in slums/backward colonies benefit a lot from this training program. At the end of the training, an examination is conducted and certificates are given to the passed children and prizes are given to the children who get first, second and third positions.

  • Organizing national festivals: All national festivals are celebrated by the Council in Bal Bhawan. Cultural programs and sports competitions are organized on this day. Children from nearby schools and Anganwadi run in Bal Bhawan and their parents also participate in these programs.
  • Women's seminar:The Council also organizes a one-day seminar every year for the benefit of women and adolescent girls. These seminars include
    • Personal hygiene.
    • Physical health,
    • How to keep the environment around you clean,
    • How to create a good educational environment at home for your children,
    • Mental development of children etc. along with education experts and women doctors. Discussions are held by. International Women's Day is celebrated every year on 8 March.
  • Sewing Training: The Council conducts 04 months free sewing training program at Bal Bhawan for needy adolescent girls, who have dropped out, their mothers and other poor women so that they can sew and become self-reliant in future.
  • Half yearly publication of Bal Samvad: The Council's magazine "Bal Samvad" is published twice a year. In this, along with giving information about the major activities of the Council, children's articles and educational articles of life members, poems, paintings are also included for the future of the Council. Minutes of programs and meetings are published. This magazine is distributed free of cost to the life members of the Council, nearby schools, education, health and social welfare and various departments.
  • Bal Bhawan: The Council has its own Bal Bhawan. It has residential arrangements for about 100 children. The Council has its own kitchen and dining hall. Apart from the camps of the Council, NSS of other schools and colleges are also housed in this building. Camps are also conducted.
  • Awareness program to prevent child sexual abuse and protect the girl child: To make girls and children aware in Bal Bhawan, experts are called in one day seminars in Bal Bhawan and in the districts and discussions are held with them so that child sexual exploitation of children can be stopped and girls can become aware about their safety.
  • Organizing Girls Festival in different districts: One day Girls Festival is organized in various districts of Uttarakhand. In this, girls are given lectures by successful and reputed women on subjects like career counselling, health check-up, child trafficking etc. In organizing the Balika Mahotsav, cooperation of district level administrative officers, local police, employment office, industry department, women doctors, etc. is also taken. go all these People from the departments also give their full cooperation.
  • Organizing children's fair: The Council organizes a Bal Mela for children in its Bal Bhawan and sometimes in some remote rural area. In this children's fair, informative and entertainment stalls are set up for children. Sports competitions are also organized for children.

Major programs of the Council

All the programs for the benefit of children are run by Uttarakhand State Council for Child Welfare mainly with the donations of generous people. There is very little income from all other sources of income. It is noteworthy that the Council is registered under Section 80 (G) of the Income Tax Act 1961. Therefore, every donor also gets 50% income tax exemption on the amount donated to the council. Therefore, Uttarakhand State Council for Child Welfare makes a humble request to the donors to donate generously to this Council in the interest of needy, deprived and poor children.
