Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) directed that child welfare centers be established in every district of the state for children in need. At the 17th meeting of the Child Welfare Council, held at Lok Bhawan, he emphasized society's collective responsibility for the overall development of children. The Governor said that a historic institution like the Child Welfare Council must be taken forward with new thinking, new working style and modern approach in keeping with the times. He directed that child welfare activities should be strengthened in every district so that the benefits of schemes and assistance can reach the needy children in a better way. He also called for child welfare activities to be carried out in collaboration with CSR and social service organizations. Vice President was elected. A new executive committee was formed at the meeting. In this, Dr. S. Farooq was elected as Senior Vice President, Mohan Singh Khatri and Pushpa Manas as Vice Presidents, Asha Painuli as General Secretary, Rohit Kochgave as Treasurer, Jyotsna Khatri as Joint Secretary. The Governor directed the newly appointed office bearers and members of the Council to prepare a concrete action plan within a month. Emphasis was laid on making it effective. Earlier, the Governor gave his consent on several points along with approval on the estimated income-expenditure of the Council for the year 2026-27.
The 29th Executive Meeting of the Uttarakhand State Council for Child Welfare was successfully held at Raj Bhawan. The meeting was conducted in the esteemed presence of the Secretary to the Governor of Uttarakhand, adding significance to the proceedings.
The meeting brought together key members of the Executive Committee to review the Council’s ongoing initiatives and discuss future plans aimed at promoting child welfare across the state. Various important agendas were taken up, including the expansion of child development programs, improvement in educational and recreational activities, and strengthening outreach efforts in remote areas of Uttarakhand.
On 28 March 2026, the Uttarakhand State Council for Child Welfare organized a State-Level Painting Competition at Bal Bhawan, Tarla Aamwala, Raipur Road, Dehradun.
The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Ritu Khanduri, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Students of Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya presented a cultural program, including Saraswati Vandana and a welcome song.
The General Secretary, Mrs. Pushpa Manas, welcomed the Chief Guest and presented a memento. A total of 60 participants from various districts of Uttarakhand took part in the competition. Out of them, 16 students were awarded prizes in different categories.
