Formation of Uttarakhand State Council for Child Welfare
In the year 2003, Uttarakhand State Council for Child Welfare, Dehradun was formed to organize programs for the safety, education, health, skill development etc. of needy children. The ex-officio president of UKSCCW is the Honorable Governor, Uttarakhand.
Objectives of the Council
- To protect and nurture the interests of children between 01 to 18 years.
- Organizing educational programs for helpless, destitute and deprived children of slums.
- To develop the feeling of patriotism among children.
- To organize health check-ups, medical camps for underprivileged children and their mothers and others.
- Organizing programs like free language teaching, computer training etc. for needy children.
- To organize tailoring training programs for mothers of children, awareness programs for personal hygiene and health as well as cleanliness of the surrounding environment.
- Education, health, safety of daughters, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao program
- To organize various programs for the empowerment of girls and women.
- Identify the brave and courageous children of this state and give them national bravery.
Recommend winning students for awards at the state level also.

Life Members of the Council: At present there are about 278 life members of the Council.
Sources of income and operation of the work
- From the amount contributed by the life members
- From the money donated by other people
- From the grant received from All India Child Welfare Council, New Delhi,
- From the annual interest received from the institution's own deposit fund.
Building Construction: Council's 'Bal Bhawan' was constructed in the year 2007 with the amount of Rs 75 lakh given by ONGC Dehradun.
Registration: Uttarakhand State Council for Child Welfare is a duly registered society under the Societies Registration Act 1860.
